Due to a mix-up in bookings with the Ram Inn in Wotton-under-Edge, the West of England Paranormal Society moved their investigation to the George Inn in Wedmore, Somerset. Ghosts...and More were once again invited along to an interesting night in this Somerset location.
Team: Sarah A, Paul, Charlie, Hywel, Dan, Adam, Sarah R, Lisa, Steve and Rachael.
As the investigation at The Ancient Ram Inn could not go ahead due to John double booking the place, we were rushing to find a fall back location at very short notice. Phoning around local pubs and locations from 9pm till 10pm finally resulted in Rachael from The George Inn, Wedmore, allowing us back at very short notice!
We arrived and set up a table in the attic, as it was decided that the attic should be a focus of investigation this time, as we didn’t investigate the room fully last time we were there.
We decided it would be best to split into two groups, Paul took Lisa, Sarah R, Steve and Matthew to the attic and Sarah took Hywel, Charlie, Dan and Adam to the Function Room next to the kitchen. It should be noted that since the last time we were there the wall between the main kitchen and the back kitchen had been knocked through.
Sarah’s group decided to do a séance with the use of table and candle in the function room, which resulted in the familiar feeling of being touched on the elbow, this time experienced by Adam and Sarah, and the feeling of ice cold drafts. A few audible taps were heard, including one loud bang that come from the back of the room, to which no source could be found.

The function room was the source of a lot of activity on our
last investigation at the George Inn. Would this investigation
discover who or what is causing the activity?
Paul’s group joined Sarah’s in the function room, apart from Matthew who was left on a lone vigil in the attic, and the séance continued with little activity reported.
The group then stopped for a break.
It was then decided that the entire group migrate to the attic, where it was suggested we try glass divination on a circular antique table. A large torch was set up, rained on the glass in the centre of the table. Sarah wished to try an experiment with a wine glass from the bar. Running a moist finger around the rim of the glass, causing the glass to “sing”, it was suggested that the noise may create enough energy for the spirits of the building to feed off. It seemed to work very well, as Lisa, Sarah R and Matthew placed a finger each on the glass, and Sarah A called out, still “singing” the glass. A lot of violent movement of the glass was observed by the team, and questions were asked.
Move the glass if you are a female spirit, the glass moved, move the glass if you died here, the glass moved, move the glass if you died unexpectedly, the glass moved, move the glass if you were murdered, the glass did not move, move the glass if you died from an illness, the glass moved violently and tipped over. The further questions asked did not yield any further
movement, so the team decided it was time for another break.
It was then decided by Paul and Sarah to set up a homemade Ouija Board in the attic, which was done by Charlie and Sarah.

A make-shift ouija board. Ghosts...and More have discovered
that these home-made set-ups tend to provide a more
interesting experiment and attract more spirits.
The team convened in the attic, and began the Ouija Session, with Sarah A continuing with glass “singing” and some other members of the team taking part in the board.
Sarah A decided she would like to take part in the board and handed the glass “singing” over to Hywel, the team carried on with the Ouija Board, with only Yes and No answers to questions, and the spirit refusing to leave the table and let another in. Also had “85” as the age of the spirit, however most of the team were suspicious as to whether the entity was “messing” with us. Refusing to spell out its name, and ignoring other questions. At one point Paul asked the spirit if it had a message for anyone, saying each member of the teams name, the entity moved the glass to Yes when Steve West’s name was mentioned. Yet, refused to give any kind of message to the awaiting Steve, apart from the letter “J”, which he decided meant nothing.
After the session upstairs the team decided to have a break and refuel on liquids and energy. It was then decided to move the Ouija Board to the function room, where Sarah A and Charlie set it up once more, at a different table.
After waiting for Paul and Adam to join the rest of the team, Sarah A decided to start a seance before the Ouija Session commenced. The team was joined by Rachael, her friend Laura and the resident Chef at The George, who has personally experienced disembodied voices, the feeling of wading through deep water and poltergeist activity in the kitchen and function room area.
The séance began, and a vote was taken whether or not to use protection, it was a unanimous “No Protection” from everyone, after Rachael had taken her own precautions, placing salt in each corner and entrance to the room.
The séance began, with everyone’s hands joined, Sarah A tried calling out with little effect, so asked Paul to take over. Paul began calling out, the Chef began to feel very hot and uncomfortable and then extremely cold, described by him as “ice cold water running down my back”, he decided to leave the building.
The séance continued with Sarah A exclaiming she was hearing voices in her head once again, like she did at Explosion! Portsmouth. She exclaimed she could hear someone shouting “It’s not funny”, and that she could see a circle of people laughing and pointing at her. Rachael tried calming Sarah by saying “No one is laughing at you, they may have done in your time, but things are different now!”, Sarah continued to come out with random comments such as “It’s not fair”, and began shaking quite violently, she also became slightly detached from the room. Rachael was calling out to the spirits, asking if it was the renovations that were angering the spirits and would they be happy living with her, Sarah responded almost immediately saying “He doesn’t want to live with you!”.

A session in the function room. As you can see from the
experience report here, quite a lot of paranormal events
occurred in here that night!
The séance ended with the decision to start the Ouija Board, with Hywel continuing the glass “singing”, Rachael, Laura, Matthew, Sarah R and Charlie taking part in the Ouija Board. Sarah A tried calling out, but with no response, the task was handed to Rachael.
Calling out from Rachael yielded lots of glass movement in response to questions, although a lot of it seemed to be nonsense and random combinations of letters and numbers.
Sarah A said she could see somebody writing Roman Numerals in her head, to which Rachael asked if the spirit was trying to speak in latin, with no response.
Rachael continued asking questions including, one particular question “what is your name?”, to which the answer was give “M1S5”, this answer was given repeatedly, also the question “How old are you?” repeatedly resulted in “7S5”. Further questions “Are you 75?”, “Are you 755?”, “Are you 7?” yielded no answer, but “Are you 5?” resulted in a “Yes”. It was then established through further questioning that this child was called “Olivia” and was female. It was also established that she had been playing with Rachael’s children the previous day.
At one point during the Ouija Board session, Laura burst into tears and claimed she was feeling deep, deep, sadness.
The night was ended at approximately 5am, with the majority of the team feeling utterly drained, but satisfied with their evening.
The George Inn has some strange phenomena and unexplainable happenings, and was a pleasure to investigate, again our thanks go out to Rachael for accommodating us at such short notice.
